XL Recordings are consolidating their roster going into 2015 - capitalising on the success of left-of-field stars Jungle and FKA twigs with the signatures of first Liverpool producer/vocalist Låpsley, and most recently, Las Vegas polymath, Shamir Bailey. "Guess I'm never-ending/You can call me pi," raps the strikingly youthful wordsmith over new track 'On The Regular's nagging cowbell, disco whistles and thumping beat. His playful lyrics take the coy brattiness of M.I.A. and Azealia Banks to stonking new levels, but its a Princely understanding of classic, knee-jerking grooves which sets Shamir aside. Like any good chameleon though, he's never in plain sight for too long - just when you think you've worked his mirrorball-funk-pop arsenal out, he's already changed the pace.
